Vienna is different – 1. Vienna HipHop Ball

At first it sounded strange. HipHop and a ball? Classic vs. HipHop?!

Together with my friend and collegue Stefan Joham and as an offical photographer for the ball I put on my black suite, white shirt, a “Hand Made Story by Barbara Alli” bow tie, as the dresscode wanted it: A pair of Sneakers and of course my camera.

You can find out more about the whole event, that took place on the 30th of January 2016, on the official website of “Wiener HipHop Ball but I would like to talk about the event from my perspective.

Brave, creative, weird, fresh, awesome!

First of all you have to appreciate that someone is brave enough to do something that was obviously going to be criticized a lot. Big up to the organizers of the ball for that! How can you mix something as classic traditional as a ball in europe with something from a completely different background like HipHop?

Besides this major topic I found one thing very noticable. The mostly very young people attending the ball felt comfortable in what they wore. I´m not an acception. I love wearing a nice suite, shirts etc. but to be honest: I enjoyed wearing Sneakers to it.

As this is a photo blog I want to let the following photos tell the rest of the story. Enjoy!
